Terms of Service
Welcome to JLPT-MockTest (the “Platform”), an online platform for taking Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) mock examinations. The Platform is operated by IIT Tokyo (the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website and the Platform.
By accessing, registering for, purchasing, or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1About the Service
IIT Tokyo is an educational service that provides online JLPT mock tests intended to help users prepare for and assess their readiness ahead of the official Japanese Language Proficiency Test. The Platform is a practice and self-assessment tool only.
2No Affiliation with Official JLPT Bodies
IIT Tokyo is an independent educational service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to the Japan Foundation, Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES), or any official body that administers the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. "JLPT" and related names are referenced solely to describe the subject matter of our practice materials. Our mock tests are unofficial and are not official JLPT examinations.
3Eligibility and Accounts
You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use the Platform. If you are a minor under the laws of your jurisdiction, you may use the Platform only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
You are responsible for providing accurate registration information and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, and you agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
4Payment
Access to the mock test(s) requires a one-time payment, processed through our third-party payment provider, Stripe. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms and to provide valid, current payment information.
All prices are stated on the Platform at the time of purchase. We may change prices at any time, but changes will not affect purchases already completed. We do not store your full payment card details; payment information is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with its security standards.
5Refunds
All payments are final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law. Please review our Refund Policy before purchasing.
6License and Acceptable Use
Upon purchase, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the mock test content for your own individual exam preparation. You agree not to:
- copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, screenshot, record, or share any test questions, answers, or other Platform content;
- resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Platform to any third party;
- share your account with others;
- use any automated system (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Platform;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform, other accounts, or our systems;
- use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in any way that disrupts or harms the Service.
7Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform — including test questions, answer keys, explanations, text, design, software, and logos — is owned by IIT Tokyo or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. No rights are granted to you except the limited license described above.
8No Guarantee of Results
Our mock tests are designed to support your preparation, but we make no guaranteethat using the Platform will result in passing the official JLPT or achieving any particular score. Mock test results are estimates for self-assessment only and may differ from official examination outcomes.
9Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
10Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, IIT Tokyo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of the Platform. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us for the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable Japanese consumer protection law.
11Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform, without notice, if you breach these Terms or engage in conduct we reasonably consider harmful to the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
12Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on the Platform with a revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court (Tokyo Chiho Saibansho) as the court of first instance, to the extent permitted by law.
