IIT Tokyo (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. IIT Tokyo operates online test-taking and exam-preparation platforms and related websites and services (collectively, the “Services”), including our JLPT practice platform, JLPT-MockTest, and any other platforms we may operate now or in the future.
This Privacy Policy applies across all of IIT Tokyo’s Services and explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose your information. We handle personal information in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI / 個人情報保護法) and applicable laws. By using any of our Services, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.
1Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account details such as your name and email address.
- Information you enter when contacting us for support.
Payment information
Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Your card number and related payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our systems. We may receive limited transaction data such as a confirmation of payment and the last digits of your card.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data such as test activity, scores, pages visited, and timestamps.
- Technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies or similar technologies.
2How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- create and manage your account;
- provide access to the mock tests and deliver your results;
- process payments and prevent fraud;
- respond to your inquiries and provide customer support;
- maintain, improve, and secure the Platform;
- comply with legal obligations.

Some of our service providers, including Stripe, may process data on servers located outside Japan (for example, in the United States). Where personal information is transferred abroad, we take steps consistent with applicable law to ensure it remains appropriately protected.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

We implement reasonable physical, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Platform is intended for individuals who can lawfully enter into a contract. Minors should use the Platform only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on the Platform with a revised "Last Updated" date. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate.
